Well, apologies for the long delay between posts but I’ve been super busy working on a great new addition to services offered here at Elliston Coaching. I am pleased to announce that I’ll be offering LT testing as well as SpinScan as of November 1st.
The LT testing will enable me to personally oversee the testing of athletes to ensure consistency and accuracy. I’ll be able to take the results and correlate them into the precise heart rate and power training zones which I have set to ensure all workouts are done exactly on target.
With the SpinScan, I will be able to evaluate pedal stroke and efficiency to make sure athletes are getting the maximum efficiency from each leg as well as helping develop a powerful pedal stroke through the entire range of motion.
To celebrate the addition of these services, I am offering a “team discount“: team-mates in groups of 3 or more will each receive a 10 % discount of these services. *Appointments must be booked at the same time; all tests carried out within one week; and discounts will be given after 3rd test
Prices and description can be seen on the services page. Appointments for these great new services are being taken now, and I currently have several slots booked up. Time slots are available M-F, 9am-7pm (last test starting at 7) and select weekend hours.
Don’t wait, contact me now to book your testing appointment. Next season starts with this off-season, and there is now better way to train effectively than to perform a benchmark test and go into this winter with a concrete set of training zones.

I am pleased to announce the beginning of another great affiliate relationship, this one with
Revolution Wheelworks. Revolution is a locally based wheel company, headquartered in the suburban Philadelphia area of Wynnewood. Founders Jonathan and Andrew are true cyclists at heart; whether it be racing, commuting, just riding for run, or reading up on the techie side of things, these guys just love the sport. They founded Revolution to bring all the elements of great wheels together in one place: light weight, aerodynamics, strength, stiffness, reliability, easy serviceability, and incredibly affordable prices are the standard on every set of wheels they offer. To further ensure the quality of their products, every set of wheels they produce are completely hand built.
So I am very pleased to now be able to offer clients a 10% discount on the purchase of any Revolution Wheelworks wheels. Since their prices are already some of the best in the industry, this makes their top quality wheels an unbeatable choice. Whether you need training, racing, cyclocross or Power Tap laced wheels, we can get you set up with a state of the art set of wheels that will fit the bill. Contact me direct to get rolling on your new wheels today.
I will also be racing a set of their REV 50’s throughout cross season this fall, so stop by my tent a take a peek at these sweet wheels. You can also demo them through one of my affiliates, Echappe Equipment, at select cross venues.

Labor Day weekend saw lots of good racing locally. Friday night was the Wilkes Barre Twilight Crit. If there were a “Most Aggressive Rider” award, it would certainly have gone to Matt Spohn. Matt was present in every single break effort of the night and ultimately found himself in the winning move of 7. Having done the lions share of the work, Matt came home 6th for the night, a great showing against several pros and ex pro break companions. Matt Swiatek also did a great job to finish the race, which saw many riders succumb to the pace. Saturdays Phillipsburg Crit saw several clients take to the line. In the 35+ event, Kevin Keane came to play team support for one of his guys in top position in the GS Cup, and did a great job. In the 1/2/3 race, both Matt’s, Dave Wells, and new client Gui Nelessen, took the line. Both Gui and Matt Spohn made one of the several splits to come in 9th and 10th respectively, while Dave and Matt Swiatek rode hard and finished in the field. Basking Ridge on Monday capped off the racing. Missing the winning break, Spohn did a lions share of the work to bring it back but to no avail, and Gui surfed home 9th in the field sprint for 13th on the day.
Most clients have now wrapped the road season, while for Matt Spohn the years final road event looms this weekend in the Univest GP. Beyond that we move into full on cyclocross mode where more results are sure to come.

Well, our 9th annual Phillipsburg Crit went off as smooth as we could hope. Great weather, good crowds, and a new record 308 riders helped make it our best year yet. A big thanks to all our supporters: the town, sponsors, staff, volunteers, riders, and cheering sections for making it such a great event. Next year will be 10 years, so we are already working some new ideas to mark this milestone. We look forward to everyone’s continued support. Thanks!

Just a last reminder that pre-registration for the Phillipsburg Crit ends at
3 PM today. Registration will still be available day-of as well, up to 15 minutes before each event. With events for every category, we are expecting some great racing and have tons of premes from Maxxis, Kranked, Lion Of Flanders and more. The weather looks to be on our side as well, with sunny skies and 80 degree temps on tap. So whether you are racing or just want to watch, come out to Phillipsburg and enjoy a great day of action.

In establishing affiliate relationships, I’m pretty picky about working only with smaller and reputable companies, so establishing a relationship with Van Dessel was kind of an easy match. The New Jersey based company is widely recognized for making some of the highest quality bikes and offering them for the lowest possible prices. And as Edwin is an athlete-owner, he knows exactly what it takes to make his products, and company, stand out. Across the board, his bikes are all some of the best in their respective categories. You can come check out some of his bikes at our demos throughout the fall at select MAC, USGP, and Verge New England cyclocross races.
As a new affiliate, we are proud to offer clients 15% discounts on any Van Dessel frame or bike, with the custom build of their choice. Given that their prices are already low, that makes this a huge deal! So if you’re in need of a new frame or complete bike, contact me today and we’ll get you rolling on the sweet new Van Dessel of your choice.

This weekend saw limited racing, with Matt Spohn and Stephan Kincaid taking on the prestigious Mengoni GP in NYC. It was dreary conditions as they joined 100 others in what is dubbed the “NYC Worlds”. Matt was one of the races bigger animators, present in many of the most dangerous break attempts, while Geronimo took turns with his team attempting to split the bunch. In the end it came down to a group sprint with Geronimo acting as part of his teams lead-out and still running home 10th. Matt was close behind in 14th in a race that saw only 29 finishers from a starting group of 100.
The rest of the crew enjoyed a quiet weekend preparing to close out the road season and jump into the cross action.
